- Huon River Jet Boats - Huonville Esplanade
Exhilarating river trips speeding up the Huon River as far as Glen Huon, lasting 40 minutes. This fun activity combines beautiful scenery with the thrill of white water.
Lifejackets and wet weather jackets are supplied. Pedal boats for hire and cafe overlooking the river.
- Yukon Tours – next door to Wooden Boat Centre, Franklin
All ages welcome. No sailing experience needed. Enjoy a 1 ½ hour cruise.
Take a river cruise on the calm Huon River, help hoist the sails or just sit back and relax.
- Wooden Boat Centre – Main Rd. Franklin
Learn about the history of boat building and water transport in the area.
Observe wooden boats being crafted and view the museum. Centre closed on Saturdays.
- The Living Boat Trust – Main Rd. Franklin
Rowing boats can be hired for exploring the river in the vicinity of Franklin.
- Tahune Airwalk – Arve Rd, Geeveston
Immerse yourself in this unique forest experience. Enjoy the sights from the engineering marvel which is the Airwalk. View the Huon Pine saplings and more mature trees from the Huon Pine Walk and take the Swinging bridges walk over the Huon and Picton Rivers. Be exhilarated by a ride on the Eagle Hang Glider as you swoop through the trees and across the river on the cable controlled glider. There is a café and BBQ facilities at the site.
There is now a new way to discover Tasmania's spectacular wild places - paddling, drifting and splashing on a raft or in a kayak during a 'Twin Rivers Adventure'.

Choose to tour the fascinating dolomite cave system and/or enjoy a relaxing swim in the naturally heated swimming pool fed by the springs. BBQ facilities available and picturesque forest walks. (Open every day except Christmas Day)
- Ida Bay Railway – 328 Lune River Road, Lune River
Enjoy a scenic return trip of 14km/2 hours duration on a heritage listed bush railway – the most southerly railway in Australia that meanders through bushland and along the waters edge to a secluded beach. There are picnic and BBQ facilities available plus a cafe and campsites.
- Hartz View Vineyard – 70 Dillons Rd. Gardeners Bay
Visit the Heritage Pickers hut village at the beautiful vineyard - self guided tours , no charge. Enjoy the views from the cellar door plus delicious vineyard platters and yummy desserts available from the cafe.
- Grandvewe Sheep Cheesery- 59 Devlins Rd. Birch’s Bay
See the sheep being milked, demonstrations daily at 3pm (October – March). The children can feed and pat the lambs during the summer. Sample the different cheeses and observe the processes of cheese production. There is a cafe on site where you can even try a ‘ewechino’ and sheep’s milk ice-cream.

- Channel Heritage Centre – 1755 Channel Highway, Margate
Explore the history and heritage of the local area in this modern, purpose built museum. There are cafe facilities available for refreshments and light meals. Free entry.
- Margate Train – 1587 Channel Highway, Margate
Go back in time and view this old steam engine and browse the variety of retail outlets in the original carriages. Experiences include the Pancake Carriage, Micro Brewery, Lolly Shop and even a great big sandpit complete with Tonka trucks.
- Antarctic Division – 203 Channel Highway, Kingston
See Antarctic memorabilia in the small, free museum at the scientific headquarters of the Antarctic division - weekdays only.
- The Shot Tower – 318 Channel Highway, Taroona
Climb to the top of the only circular stone shot tower remaining in the world and enjoy the beautiful views of the River Derwent. Enjoy refreshments in the cafe, stroll the gardens or browse the museum and gift shop.
