LOCATED IN THE SNUG TIERS NATURE RECREATION AREA
Pelverata Falls plunges from a height of over 100m and is especially impressive if it’s been wet and the rivers are flowing well – but rains or no rains it is a pretty location and well worth the walk.
The first section of the track is very easy and runs behind some private farms, and then you turn into some fairly dry and open eucalyptus forest. You will then make your way through a pocket of rainforest and then up a steep slope again. The whole hillside seems to be a pile of rocks, which makes for interesting and more challenging walking just before you reach the viewing platform looking up at the Pelverata Falls.
Access to Pelverata Falls is near the township of Pelverata. The route is well signposted. From Huonville, turn left before the bridge and head towards Cygnet down the Channel Highway.
The walk is a 3 hour return moderate walk. The track is steadily uphill and easy most of the way. The last 10 minutes before the falls you will find some awkward rocks to negotiate. There is no water available so be sure to take some in your backpack.
NO dogs allowed.
There is an excellent picnic shelter at Pelverata – free electric BBQ. Check the water level in the river at Pelverata; being a small catchment the falls are often dry. At the end is a viewing platform looking up at the falls themselves.
